Private Marco Cruz has screwed up again. On the verge of being discharged, his commanding officer offers him one last chance: take a post at a top secret research station and join the squad known as the Zeta Team. Zeta Team, however, is the last place in the universe that anyone in the Interplanetary Army wants to be. Consisting all the losers, screw-ups, and has-beens that the IPA wants to sweep under the rug, Marco is expected to do little more than sit around guarding ancient alien ruins that the IPA has long ago stopped trying to decipher. Marco has a gift, though, a gift for seeing details that no one else can. With this gift, he is about to unleash an alien horde that has long been forgotten by the galaxy. And the only people in any position to stop the invasion are Marco and his team of losers. The galaxy might just be doomed.

Everyone knows by now about the day a little girl fell into the enclosure of Killroy the gorilla. They know about the internet outrage, the memes, and the videos of world-famous primatologist Trudy Hollis shooting Killroy to save her. What they don’t know is that the incident turned Trudy Hollis into a broken woman slowly drowning herself with alcohol. She’s more than happy to fade into obscurity until the faithful day that billionaire Marvin Irving comes to her with proof that something amazing is going on in the jungles of Africa. There is evidence that the mountain gorillas Hollis has spent her life studying have somehow developed the ability to make their own tools, and may even have a primitive form of religion. But the most unbelievable part of all is that the giant gorilla-like creature they seem to be worshipping might just be real. This is Trudy’s chance to redeem herself. If she can return to the adventuring ways of her youth, she might be able to prove that this giant gorilla is real. Unless, of course, this God among gorillas finds her expedition first and rips every single one of them apart.

ARCTIC GAUNTLET

Laurie Schnellman just wanted to get away for a while. She wanted to take a cruise in the Arctic, see some whales, maybe have a fun hookup with one of the other passengers. Then they see something out in the water, something coming toward the ship at an impossible speed. Tonight all the passengers on the cruise ship Lucky Lady Duck are going to get far more than they paid for. They are going to get a perfect view as a gauntlet of sea monsters from outside of time fight for them all. The lucky ones will be the ones that die first, because the survivors will have to face something none of them could have ever imagined in their worst nightmares.

Marine biologists Maria Quintero and Kevin Hoyt have come to investigate with a television producer in tow, hoping to get footage that will land them a reality TV show. The plan is to have a stand-off against a notorious illegal shark-fishing captain and then go home. Things are not going according to plan. There is something new in the waters of the Sea of Cortez. Something smart. Something huge. Something that has its own plans for Quintero and Hoyt.
