Advances in nanotechnology and medical 3-D printing have revolutionized healthcare worldwide, particularly organ transplantation. Until an experimental product line accidentally winds up in the global marketplace. Until people’s organs begin killing them…then bringing them back. Pockets of humanity fight to subsist in skeletal cities and apocalyptic wastelands. The walking dead are a part of a daily fight for survival and many of the living have gone mad. Andre and Claire are part of a group struggling to rebuild America’s infrastructure. In their way stand not only the hungry dead, but a conspiracy of various factions determined to retain what power they have. In a saga blending intrigue and deception with survival horror, the last good men and women combat their own extinction.

Fast über Nacht erscheinen massive Superstürme rund um den Globus. Diese konvergieren in der Arktis und zu einem apokalyptischen Megasturm, stören weltweit Wetter-, Kommunikations- und Sicherheitssysteme. Es herrscht Chaos … dann verebbt der Sturm, die Wolken teilen sich – doch nur, um die wahre Bedrohung preiszugeben.

Höllengänger wird es genannt. Es ist sieben Meilen hoch, und jeder seiner Schritte verursacht Katastrophen, deren Auswirkungen über die Kontinente hereinbrechen. Aus seinem Leib schlüpfen aggressive Monster – jedes für sich in der Lage, eine ganze Stadt auszulöschen. Ohne etwas über die Herkunft dieser Monster zu wissen, sieht sich die Menschheit mit dem Albtraum ihrer eigenen Ausrottung konfrontiert.

Einige Jahre später kommt der Höllengänger zur Ruhe. Er erstarrt, nur seine Nachkommen toben weiter über den Erdball.
Frank Eckman führt eine Gruppe Überlebender an, immer darum bemüht, eine Konfrontation mit den Wesen zu vermeiden. Dann beginnen Visionen über den schlafenden Riesen Frank zu plagen. Er glaubt, den Schlüssel zur Beendigung dieser Apokalypse gefunden zu haben.
Doch hoch über den Wolken erwacht der Höllengänger …

Almost overnight, massive superstorms appear around the globe. Defying natural law, they converge in the Arctic and become one apocalyptic megastorm, disrupting weather systems, communication and security worldwide. Chaos reigns…and then the storm breaks. The clouds part. And the real threat emerges. It will come to be known as Hell Walks. Seven miles tall, its every step causes cataclysmic disasters whose effects ripple across continents. Worse yet, attempts to battle the beast unleash smaller, more aggressive kaiju from its body – smaller, but each capable of obliterating a major city on its own. With no answers as to the things’ origins, humanity turns on itself and crumbles in the face of the nightmare. Years later, the original beast stands dormant and has become an artificial mountain, while its offspring continue to rampage. Frank Eckman helps lead a band of survivors as they attempt to avoid the active kaiju. Avoid, that is, until Frank begins experiencing visions which draw him toward the sleeping giant. Frank believes he holds the key to ending the apocalypse, but he may just be another of its wretched pawns.
