It is a fighting machine; a cyborg designed for slaughter. A Slayer. Freed from its creators, it had gone into hibernation.
Until now.
War has spread throughout the galaxy. In a distant solar system, a totalitarian paramilitary militia has seized control of several planets. In each system they control, they run slave-labor camps to build new weapons and settlements.
On the planet Reg, a team of prisoners have broken free with the help of the notorious vigilante Malcolm Albain. Forming an unlikely alliance, they track the militia leader to a settlement on the planet Grinder with intent to get even.
Upon arrival, they find the settlement devastated, its soldiers dead. The group also discover a derelict ship from a distant galaxy with a dark secret inside.
